Abigail Love

Abigail Love is the baby of our family. Her fur is curly and thick. She’s a super happy dog that likes to wiggle. As a baby we struggled to get her collar on because she wiggled around so much. We started calling her “wiggle butt Abby.”

We can tell by the size of her paws, that Abigail is going to be a massive size Saint. I would say that the fur makes her look puffy, but she’s just a big dog.

Abigail is our hound dog. When she first learned to bark it sounded just like what a hound dog sounds like. It reminded me of the movie Fox and the Hound. Copper’s baby bark in the movie is almost exactly like how Abigail sounds. It’s so cute! And as she’s growing, her face looks more and more like a hound dog.

And like so many of our other dogs, Abigail loves to be loved on. If you sit down, she’ll come up from behind you and give you a hug, pull on your pony tail, or just knock you over with her strength. She’s a very loving dog that just doesn’t realize how big she really is.

She absolutely adores her family. Abigail and Autumn are about the same age, so they tend to hang out with one another and wrestle each other. With her being the baby of the family, the others tend to roll her around a little bit more. But they are quickly learning that she’s no longer a baby.

The breeder for Abigail told us that she was a very clever girl. She would escape out of the whelping box and try to get her siblings to climb out as well. Today she watches her family squabble over a toy. While they are busy whining and arguing about who gets the toy, Abigail sneaks in and takes the toy. Very clever girl indeed. We used to think she was just quiet and liked being by herself. But now we realize she’s just observing and waiting for the right time to move. Abigail means, “cause of joy”, and she definitely causes us a great deal of joy.

In late July 2023, we moved from our farm in Kentucky to central/eastern Illinois. Pictures now will reflect our new home.
