Autumn Grace

Autumn Grace quickly proved that she was not going to be small. She has grown in leaps and bounds very quickly. She’s full blooded, AKC registered, Saint Bernard but her structure shows the Great Dane that was mixed in with Saints back in the 1800s. We call her our Saint Dane. She’s taller than all the dogs. She’s more lean as well. The other Saints are “beefier”. But we are sure she will grow more “meatier” as she ages.

From the moment we got Autumn, we knew she was very unique in appearance. Her nose was formed longer than other Saints, and it had more black spots. Her legs were exceptionally long. We knew she was going to be a giant of a Saint.

Autumn is a lover. She has to be loved on all the time. She’s very needy. She wants to sit on our laps. If we are trying to pet the other dogs, she’ll hit us with her paw to get our attention. Or if we are sitting down and the other dogs come in for love, she has no trouble pushing her way through so she gets all the attention.

Autumn is our diva through and through. She loves to pose for the camera. I think she could win some of the AKC dog shows if we ever got interested in that. She holds herself well. She’s just so adorable. Sometimes she even adds in her favorite chew toy to give more meaning to the picture.

Saint Bernards can continue to grow until they are three years old. Our fence enclosure for the dogs is 4′ tall. She’s head and shoulders taller than that. We can’t wait to see how much taller she grows. She’s definitely going to be our jolly giant.

And as you can see from that face of hers, you’ll get caught up in her droopy eyes. And just like a child, she’ll play with your heart using those sad, puppy eyes. I always warn Ronnie not to fall for her tricks, but he falls for it every time. I can’t hardly blame him though. Those eyes will melt your heart every time.

In late July 2023, we moved from our farm in Kentucky to central/eastern Illinois. Pictures from here on will reflect our new home.
